CIDS Center for Information
Development and Service

Welcome to the Center for Information Development and Service

The Center provides a range of data development, data service and related technical assistance activities, with a special focus on serving nonprofit community-based organizations and public agencies serving people in Oakland County.

"A new initiative answering your data questions about your community"

A little bit about us

CIDS has been funded by United Way of Oakland County (UWOC). The purpose is to provide a single point of contact, or one stop shop, where organizations can access a wide range of demographic, socioeconomic and related data, including many community indicators.  The data serve a wide variety of purposes, including strategic and operational planning, (e.g. analysis of internal data such as client addresses, with comparisons to census data and other external data sets), grant applications, program evaluation, and program/agency marketing.

The CIDS central approach: first find out what questions you, the data user, want answered, and then access the applicable data resources from which to process and analyze the relevant data.

Services are provided without charge to UWOC funded agencies. Appropriate fees apply for other data requests. We welcome inquiries from any person needing our services.
